WHAT IS MITT TRAINING?

Final Round Mitts training classes provide training in proper punching and striking skills using focus mitts and thai pads with a partner. Our focus in Mitts classes is strictly on technique, not full contact.

WHAT ARE FOCUS MITTS?

Focus mitts– which, by the way, are sometimes called punch mitts, target pads, or focus mitts– are pads that are worn like a glove. Usually about 8 inches wide by 10 inches tall, they are constructed of leather or vinyl and stuffed with dense foam. They’re standard equipment for use in drills to train boxing, kickboxing, and other striking based martial arts.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A MITTS CLASS?

During each one-hour Mitts class, you’ll be paired up with a training partner who is at the same skill level. (Participants should be at an intermediate or advanced skill level.) You and your partner will take turns holding mitts for seven three-minute rounds. The class ends with 10 minutes of core training.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF FOCUS MITT TRAINING?

By working with a partner in the Mitts class, you’ll be building offensive and defensive skills while you improve your reflexes and your overall conditioning. In addition to all the physical benefits you’ll realize, you’ll have a lot of fun as you proceed through the many drills and fighting games. In fact, the possibilities and combinations of training routines with focus Mitts is virtually limitless.
